Benefits of Charcoal for skin:

It detoxifies the skin – On a daily basis, our skin gets exposed to the harsh pollutants and toxins present in the environment. These pollutants and toxins clog up our facial pores and lead to various skin problems like acne, hyperpigmentation, blackheads, dullness, etc. That’s why detoxifying the skin once in a while is a must!

Charcoal effectively draws out all the dirt and toxins from the facial pores and prevents pimples.

Controls excess oil – Only the people with oily skin would know how difficult it is to deal with the excess oil problem! No matter how many times you blot your face, the oil always comes back! Be the winner against that oily and shiny skin by using detoxifying charcoal face masks!

Charcoal is literally a godsend ingredient for those with oily skin. It can control excess oil production on your skin and make it feel fresh for days.

Gives you a flawless complexion – By removing all the dirt and impurities from your skin, charcoal makes your complexion brighter.  Get rid of those pesky little blackheads, whiteheads, and acne with charcoal mask and make your skin appear as flawless as ever!

Important tip for making face masks with Activated Charcoal Powder:

Activated charcoal powder tends to draw out metals and toxins from any vessel made up with metal. Hence, while making a face mask with it, make sure that you use a glass bowl and a wooden spoon.

Charcoal Face Masks

1.Charcoal & Gelatin Peel Off Face Mask

Forget about the internet-viral charcoal and glue mask that can potentially damage your skin! Here is an all natural alternative to it. Yes, making charcoal peel off mask without glue is possible.

You will need:

  • 1 teaspoon of Activated Charcoal Powder
  • 2 teaspoons of Gelatin Powder
  • 4 teaspoons of Hot Water

How to make:

  • Mix charcoal powder and gelatin powder in a glass bowl.
  • Add hot water to activate the gelatin and mix it well.
  • Using the double boiler method, heat the mixture for a few minutes. Keep stirring it while it heats up.

How to use:

Since gelatin solidifies very quickly, try to use this mixture immediately after taking it off the double boiler. Allow the mixture to cool down for like a couple of minutes and then test its temperature on the back of your hand. If it has cooled down enough, go ahead and apply the mask evenly on your face using a brush.

After 15-20 minutes, the mask will start to feel dry and stretchy – that’s when you are supposed to remove it. Slowly peel it off starting from your chin area and towards your forehead. On the cheeks areas, peel it off from sideways, towards your nose. Once you have removed the mask, Wash your face with cold water and pat dry your skin. Apply aloe vera gel liberally on your face to soothe your skin after all that peeling!

Benefits of this face mask:

This peel off mask will extract blackheads, dirt and toxins present deep within your facial pores without leaving your skin dry! The gelatin powder added to this mask will give it a glue-like consistency and allow it to peel off nicely once it is dry. Don’t worry, gelatin powder is totally safe to be used on your skin. It is made up of collagen and hence, its regular use will help to keep your skin forever young by maintaining skin’s elasticity.

P.S. – if you are a vegan and you don’t want to use gelatin, which is an animal-derived ingredient, then you can replace it with agar powder.
